with the Alexander Technique
Hello,
My name is Janet Gibbons and I am a teacher of the Alexander Technique, offering private lessons in Crowborough in East Sussex. Welcome to my website.
This site is intended to explain a little about what the Alexander Technique is and help you decide whether lessons with me may be of help to you.
But no amount of written commentary can really explain what the Technique is and how it works. It has to be experienced! That is why I encourage potential pupils to come along for a taster lesson.
I very much look forward to working with you.
What is the Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is a unique and practical self-help method for changing poor posture and movement habits which may be causing pain and tension in the body.
We tend to build up unnecessary habits of muscular tension over the years, in particular from spending many hours with our heads held at an unnatural angle staring at the tiny screen of a smartphone, slumped over a laptop or sat rigidly at a desktop computer screen.
Through a series of one-to-one lessons you will be able to identify and change the harmful habits you have built up over a lifetime and learn how to move in a more relaxed and comfortable way – the way nature intended.
The Alexander Technique is widely recognised as an effective method of alleviating, or preventing, back and other muscular-skeletal pain and many other disorders.
